“Sweat-equity” is when a family partners with Habitat, by volunteering their time, to take part in building their own home or other Habitat homes. There are many other opportunities such as working in the Habitat office, ReStore, or taking part in other approved activities.
- All families are required to perform 500 hours of sweat equity, of which some can be completed by family and friends.
- All of the hours must be completed before the partner family can purchase the home.
Additionally, the partner family receives Sweat Equity Hours for completing the required home buyer and financial education classes.
